300 guests from book publishers and manufacturers gathered in London’s Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square for the 2008 British Book Design and Production Awards. The Awards were introduced by BPIF President and CPI UK CEO Mike Taylor and presented by writer, broadcaster and former MP Gyles Brandreth.

The Awards, organised by the BPIF, Oxford Brookes University and The Publishers Association had a record number of entries in 2008. The Winner of Best British Book was The Temple of Flora, published by The Folio Society and printed by Beacon Press. Little Mouse’s Big Book of Fears, published by Macmillan Children’s Books, won Book of the Year.

These Awards promote and acknowledge the excellence of the British book design and production industry. The 2008 Awards featured an Environmental Award for the first time. This Award was for a well-produced book manufactured using best practice in environmental management including the use of FSC papers and reduction in carbon footprint.
